“Triunity” A lovely big, hefty, slab of stone this one, with quite nice colouring and patterns. A totally instinctual sculpture this one, i got a pencil and flourished some lines across it for the bigger form, sculpted that, then added a little detail to suit, very much a sculpture for the sake of sculpting but decidedly a part of the Mahara Series even before i had something mapped out in pencil. I could feel it worked and it’s place amongst the others was obvious and yet i had no grasp on it’s import despite the distinct ‘feel’ of familiarity...... sort of...... in a roundabout way. Then universe supplied me with the data, or maybe a reminder (on some level) and all this with thanks to Cliff High of halfpasthuman.com fame and a video clip he made discussing amongst many other things, the triune nature of human consciousness along with reference to the book Thinking and Destiny, the penny dropped and i “knew” what the sculptural representation was on about..... just don’t ask me to delineate it :-) I read the book as well, it was very very familiar.
It’s a piece i get to view from the house, like a reminder or a point of enquiry and is large and bold enough of design to see from some distance away, another of my favourites. This for me is not one of those sculptures that i don’t get to ‘see’ for quite sometime..... and then eventually notice what i had sculpted. This spoke before i sculpted.
